Miguel Dota is growing some of our most celebrated coffee out of Ecuador to date! This Sidra delivers a fascinating array of articulated flavors. There's an umami affect in this cup that keeps us coming back with interest. The body is big - yet delicate, the cup is sweet with alternating currents of botanical & fruited character. There is a uniquely sharp citric delineation in the structure. You may also find notes of blueberry, blood orange, vanilla and lemon meringue.
The Dota Family members all have small garden plots of land with a couple acres amongst themselves for coffee production. They all produce incredibly nuanced and distinguished coffees. Miguel's tiny lot of Sidra is consistently an impressive boutique out-turn. We are feeling very fortunate to share his work with you. His land sits up on the hillside of Seraguro with Mejorado and Sidra plants now fruiting regularly. We cannot wait to see where Miguel and his family take their work in the years ahead. They have been blowing us away with their quality of cultivating and processing.
Coffee cherries are picked at peak ripeness with a high brix. Sorted and depulped immediately. Dry fermented for 24 hours then fully washed. Dried on raised beds for up to two weeks. Sidra has been identified as an Ethiopian Landrace strain, beyond that, we don't know much else. It has in recent years grown in popularity due to Ecuador's great success with producing high scoring cups with this variety. This is one of the best representations we have been graced with. Hope you enjoy this micro-lot as much as we do!
