ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
Bambito Estate has been a family run farm since the early 1900’s. Alberto Sitton Rios acquired the farm from his father in 1945 in the mountains of Bambito, Panama. It quickly became Alberto’s passion as a way to continue a family tradition. Now, Bambito Estate is still family-run by its fourth and fifth generation. Along the way, the estate has acquired numerous awards for its famously high-quality lots. The family has earned placements in Best of Panama every year from 2021 to 2026 with the exception of 2024.
This lot from Bambito Estate was first depulped and washed on the same day. Then, it was rested for 36 hours before being washed a second time. Finally, the lot was dried on African beds.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We're excited to work with Bambito Estate in Panama for the first time. The estate has long been a standout in the Best of Panama competition, and after tasting this lot, it's easy to understand why. This is one of the most impressive washed Geshas from Panama we've tasted this season.
The florals are immediately prominent and remarkably complex, centered around the aroma of fresh cut white lily. As the acidity comes through, a mild but sweet citron note begins to emerge, followed by a well defined white peach character with a juicy, creamy texture.
As the cup develops, soft, fleshy pink dragonfruit adds another layer to the finish. The combination of acidity and florals unfolds gradually throughout the cup, with each layer presenting with great definition before giving way to different nuances.
There's something particularly memorable about the way this coffee carries its acidity through the florals and fruit. We're very excited to finally share the work coming out of Bambito Estate and to have the chance to show what this farm is capable of.
