ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
El Oasis is the result of a culinary dream that turned into a coffee legacy. Founded by chefs Fernando Bocanegra and Pedro Lugo, the farm focuses on expressing the full potential of the Gesha variety. El Oasis is committed to preserving the inherent qualities of their coffee while also implementing careful process innovation, much like a chef would do to ingredients in a kitchen.
For this gesha, the cherries first undergo a 60 hr submerged fermentation in clean water tanks. Then, they are thoroughly washed with more clean water and dried for 10 to 14 days in an airflow controlled environment.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
This is our first time working with Fernando Bocanegra of El Oasis, and it’s a memorable introduction.
From the first cups, the coffee stood out for its clarity and structure. It’s a washed Gesha that feels composed and expressive, with each note moving naturally into the next.
Florals come through first, led by jasmine. As the cup opens, a ripe white peach sweetness comes forward, soft and rounded, gradually settling into a deeper honey-like character that carries through the middle.
There are light tropical notes and hints of berries in the background, adding detail without pulling focus. What lingers most is the finish, where a clean muscat grape note brings a crisp, almost sparkling quality.
A really nice first experience with this farm and a strong example of a washed Gesha.
