ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER

Finca Artemira was originally a small 3 hectare farm and cattle ranch owned by Ebert’s father. After his father’s passing, Ebert’s mother took over the business and eventually fully invested in the coffee farm. Through her hard work, the farm was able to sustain the family and Ebert eventually took over the business. Now, under Ebert’s leadership, the farm has grown to 15 hectares and even placed 18th in the 2023 Peru Cup of Excellence with his washed geisha.

This catuai lot from Ebert was first washed in large tanks of clean water, then de-pulped. Next, the coffee was fermented for 40 hours in sealed grainpro bags. Finally, the coffee was cleaned with water and dried for 10-15 days.

WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE

Really excited to share another release, this time from what has been the most exciting origin for us this year, Peru.

This is a Catuai varietal that genuinely surprised us with its floral expression. It’s a terroir forward and complex coffee that keeps unfolding as it moves from hot to cold, revealing different layers the more time you spend with it.

When it is hot, there are soft notes of gala apple sweetness and ripe peach. As it cools, a rounder and creamier cantaloupe character starts to come forward, adding more depth and softness to the cup. Toward the colder end of the spectrum, white florals are most notable.

Overall, it gives a clear view into the growing region in Peru, with enough complexity to stay interesting while still remaining an easy, pleasant everyday drinker.
