ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
Betania Farm is part of a thriving network of 117 smallholder producers in southern Huila, a region internationally recognized for its exceptional terroir and dedication to quality. These producers work together under a shared philosophy: farming with respect for the land, preserving traditional methods, and avoiding the use of chemicals that compromise soil health and biodiversity. Their collective efforts have created a model of sustainable coffee production that is admired across Colombia.
At the heart of this community stands Don Linarco, affectionately known as “Don Lino.” He embodies both leadership and humility, combining deep agricultural knowledge with a constant drive for innovation. Over the years, he has introduced improvements in selective harvesting, fermentation control, and drying techniques, raising the standards for his entire region. His commitment extends beyond the farm: he mentors young growers, encourages environmentally responsible practices, and supports initiatives that strengthen the local community.
For this lot of SL28, the cherries are first depulped within hours of being harvested. Then the cherries undergo 32 hours of anaerobic fermentation in mucilage. Finally, the coffee is fully washed and dried on raised beds for 20-25 days.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We’re excited to launch a special new coffee from a new farm: Finca Betania in Colombia.
This release features a rare and beautiful expression of the SL28 varietal—one we already love, but this lot takes it to another level.
From the very first sip, you’re hit with a bright, ultra-sweet lemonade clarity, followed immediately by cherry blossom aromatics bursting out of a deep cherry sweetness. As it cools, the cup evolves into green tropical kiwi, with layers of complexity continuing to unfold in every sip.
SL28 is known for its vibrancy and structure, but this is a shining example of what happens when it’s exceptionally grown and thoughtfully fermented in a different terroir—clean, expressive, and distinct in its own way.
This is the kind of coffee that reminds us why we do what we do.
