ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
Rosa Del Mar is a project within the Acevedo Crop Management group that seeks to help smallholder farmers attain high quality coffees through collaboration and standardization. One of those farms is operated by Edgar Motta, a second-generation coffee farmer. Edgar has slowly transitioned from Caturra and Castillo to more distinctive varieties such as this pink bourbon. This lot was processed by Rosa Del Mar using the semiwashed method to optimize water usage while preserving clarity in the cup.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
This lot from Edgar Motta and the Rosa Del Mar project immediately stood out on our cupping table. It's a great example of what thoughtful fermentation can bring to an already high-quality coffee—expressive and fruit-forward, but never dominated by process.
The profile lands right in the range we tend to enjoy most: plenty of tropical fruit character without excessive funk. Strawberry and yellow peach come together with a smoothie-like sweetness, supported by a creamy, rounded body. Hibiscus florals lift the cup, while lingering notes of guava add a candy-like finish that stays with you long after the coffee has cooled.
It's a vibrant and approachable expression of Pink Bourbon that balances variety, terroir, and processing with remarkable clarity.
