ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
We are excited to offer another exceptional lot from Tamiru and Alo Coffee. This lot comes from the Utuwa Farm in Murago Village. Similar to many of Alo Coffee’s dark room dried lots, this coffee presents itself as impressively clean, refined, and structured. The processing used on this lot is the same processing used for the Moonshadow Natural auction lot we previously offered.
First cherries are picked and sorted after harvesting. Then, they are shade-dried until they reach 20% moisture before being transferred into Alo Coffee’s carefully designed dark rooms. Here, the coffee is uniformly dried for 57 days until it reaches a moisture level of 11%.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
If you were as excited as we were about the Alo auction lot earlier this year, you are in for something special. We are bringing you another Alo, this time a dark room dried lot crafted with a similar approach, yet offering its own distinct expression.
There is a familiar thread running through this coffee, but it is the subtle differences that make it so compelling. What we love most is its remarkable balance. It carries the punchy, fruit forward character you would expect from a natural process, paired with the clarity and precision typically found in washed coffees.
It opens with a vibrant burst of raspberry, then moves into a soft white peach sweetness. As the cup cools, it reveals layers of jasmine tea and bright citron, adding depth and nuance to each sip.
Wonderfully complex and expressive, this is a coffee we are proud to share. We hope you enjoy it.
